Astrid

Astrid is a busy mom of a ten-year-old, a five-year-old, and a new baby, and loves parenting with her supportive husband, James (Aaron Abrams). Sardonic, messy, with a short fuse, Astrid doesn’t care about being perfect or following so-called parenting trends by mommy bloggers. She has a playful relationship with James, and they love laughing at the weird things their kids do. Astrid’s growing responsibilities at work and growing family at home are a challenge to juggle but she’s got this. There’s probably a grease stain on her work shirt and she left her car keys in the fridge for some reason – but she’s got this.

At work, Astrid finds herself moved into a new department where everyone feels significantly younger than her, leaving Astrid struggling to both fit in and keep up through the haze of her sleep-deprived parent brain. Adding a baby to the mix has upped the difficulty level on the home front too, from trying to get her mom’s help with childcare to just being able to give each of her children the space and attention they need, while not totally losing her own sense of self in the process. For all of life’s added complications, James’ growing feeling that a move to a house outside the city might be what they need leaves Astrid conflicted as she tries to figure out what is best for their family.

Meaghan Rath stars in the CTV Original comedy CHILDREN RUIN EVERYTHING as Astrid, a busy mom of three kids under 10 years of age, who is conflicted between reclaiming her own identity in the workplace after having her third child and trying to do what’s best for her growing family.

A dynamic and versatile performer, Rath is quickly emerging as one of the entertainment industry’s brightest young talents. Rath is an award-nominated actress and producer best known for her roles as Tani Rey on HAWAII FIVE-0 and Sally Malik in the adaptation of the popular U.K. television series BEING HUMAN.
