About The Series
CHILDREN RUIN EVERYTHING follows Astrid (Meaghan Rath) and James (Aaron Abrams) as they raise their young children in the city, while struggling to hold onto their pre-kid life. Illustrating the hilarious and varied ways kids can wreck happiness, alter plans, annihilate goals and dreams, and force parents to re-invent their lives, the series also explores how maybe that re-invented life is somewhat okay, too. Nowhere near as good as that old, really great life. But still kind of nice.

The Family

Astrid
Played By Meaghan Rath
Sardonic, messy, with a short fuse, Astrid doesn’t care about being perfect or following so-called parenting trends by mommy bloggers. She has a playful relationship with James, and they love laughing at the weird things their kids do. Astrid’s growing responsibilities at work and growing family at home are a challenge to juggle but she’s got this. There’s probably a grease stain on her work shirt and she left her car keys in the fridge for some reason – but she’s got this.

James
Played by Aaron Abrams
A mild perfectionist, James is earnest in his quest to be a modern man. He pressures himself to be a great father, often correcting his behaviour in real-time and seizing opportunities to teach life lessons to his kids. As much as he loves his family, he misses the freedom, spontaneity, and fun from his pre-kid life. He’s still getting used to living under the clutter of his children’s belongings, and the various toys strewn around the house.

Vivian
Played by Mikayla SwamiNathan
Vivian is James and Astrid’s five-year-old daughter. She has a big personality and is playful but quick to anger. Viv looks up to her big brother, sometimes imitating him. She often has tantrums, but she’s also very affectionate and loving.

Felix
Played by Logan Nicholson
Felix is James and Astrid’s ten-year-old son. He’s sensitive, a fast learner, and always curious about how the world works. He still thinks his parents are the best people in the world, but that’s a lot to live up to, and that bubble is going to burst pretty soon. Often distracted, Felix loves to help but overestimates his abilities. He’s still learning how to take care of his little sister and sometimes picks on her. He’s always in need of reassurance and lots of hugs from his parents, but he starts to show signs that he’s ready to be more independent.
